KAMLOOPS, BC, CANADA, September 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Kamloops 2026 55+ BC Games closed on September 12 after five days of competition that brought more than 3,000 participants to the city for 24 sports and activities, with over 1,400 medals awarded across singles, doubles and team formats.— Ron McColl, President of the Kamloops 2026 55+ BC Games Host Society
This marked the third time Kamloops has hosted the Games, following 1996 and 2013. More than 900 volunteers helped run the week.

Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers who made these five days possible, and to every participant and visitor who made Kamloops feel like the centre of the province this week," said Ron McColl, President of the Kamloops 2026 55+ BC Games Host Society.
The Games are estimated to have generated $3 million in economic impact for the Kamloops region, with participants and visitors filling local hotels, restaurants and venues throughout the community, from Tournament Capital Centre to Riverside Park.
"Every host community brings something different to the 55+ BC Games, and Kamloops brought a level of organization and community buy-in that made these Games very successful. Kamloops gave participants a stage worthy of that effort, with fantastic facilities where participants felt proud to compete in, as well as an incredible Opening Ceremonies and Participant dance that were enjoyed by all - and that's the mark of a Games well run," said Diane Murphy, President, BC Seniors Games Society.
The Host Society thanked Games sponsors, including Podium Partners Tourism Kamloops and Kamloops Sports Legacy Fund, along with Doane Grant Thornton, Chartwell, Rocky Mountaineer and National Bank. A 50/50 draw held during Games week raised $7,820, split evenly between the Kamloops 2026 Host Society and the BC Seniors Games Society.

The 55+ BC Games now head to Surrey, which will host from September 14 to 18, 2027.

The Kamloops 2026 55+ BC Games took place September 8 to 12 in Kamloops, British Columbia, drawing more than 3,000 participants from across the province to compete in 24 sports and activities. Sanctioned by the BC Seniors Games Society, the Games are BC's largest annual multi-sport event and are open to participants aged 55 and older.
